Cars & Coffee 7/5 anyone?

Monday 30 June 2008 - ore 23:21 | Tag:
Hi everybody,
I haven't spent too much time over here since the wife got to take the MCS in the divorce, but a few of us from other forums are planning a C&C gtg at Starbucks Coffee in Uptown Park this weekend, corner of Post Oak and 6-10. We have done it a few times, and the one thing I've noticed missing are some MINIs. Tentative time is 8:30-ish am till-----whenever. Here is a link to some pics from the largest one we've had so far. I hope to see some of you there.
Cheers

07 Automatic Transmission Problem

My 07 S will downshift to 5th after approximately 30 miles of travel at 70 mph.
I've had it to the dealer twice without them being able to duplicate the problem. I just went to pick it up today after they've had it for 6 weeks to fix it. I have just under 9,000 miles on the car.
Needless to say, on the way home it started again. I immediately phoned the service tech and informed them that I was returning and to have someone available when I arrived to ride with me so that I could verify that they acknowleged the problem, which they did.
Just curious if anyone else has had the same problem.

Hi-temp brake fluid that looks idential to MINI/OEM fluid

Hi folks,

I'd like to do a fluid flush on my car with a high temperature fluid (like Superblue), but I'd like it to look the same as the OEM fluid they use. My dealer told me that if they notice different fluid in the brakes, they would void the warranty (so a blue fluid is not an option). Just wondering what I can use to preserve the warranty.

It was really cool to go over 50 mpg!

18% Increase in Fuel Economy

I have been a hard core BP customer since I purchased my MINI in April 2003. British car = British gas. Makes sense right? I can count on one hand the number of tanks I had filled with anything other than BP up until this spring. I have been having misc issues, and I thought I would give switching gas a try. Up until that point I had never seen better than 28 MPG on the highway and I had over 65K miles on the car. I now have over 70K miles and using Shell gas exclusively. I now regularly get 33 MPG on the highway. That is nuts! No other modifications were made to car at the time of the switch. Last weekend I did have new JCW 380 injectors and the JCW stage II program loaded, but the MPG has held steady at 33 MPG.

Not sure what to think of all that. Comments?

How cold is your AC?

Monday 30 June 2008 - ore 22:57 | Tag:
We had a small heat wave a couple weeks back, and I was switching between my two cars (Land Rover Discovery and Mini Cooper S). I noticed that the air coming from the vents in the Mini, wasn't ice cold like it is in the Disco. I checked the vents, and the fan speed, which did help the volume of air, but after sitting in the sun all day, the car was not able to get the temp of the car to something resembling cool.

Anyone else have a problem with the A/C in the MCS?
